At least once a month, we vote on a graphic novel or trade paperback to read.
Then we get together to discuss. It's just like a book club, but with comics!
From time to time, we'll also have other comic-related events to attend - movies, conventions, and anything else you can think of that might appeal to fans of sequential art.
If you're on Facebook, you can join in the group discussion here:

Although gay men now live in the everchanging digital age, few things compare to reading books the way we were taught. How relaxing is it to step away from the computer and lose yourself in a good novel, play or article? Enough blogging, men. Let's read. Let's discuss. Let's explore.
The Queens Literati is a safe haven for avid readers who find themselves searching for a new book or an intelligent literary society. Maybe you're tired of joining group after group, reading the same kinds of uninspired young adult novels that leave you feeling... well, childish. Maybe you're looking for the opportunity to read a challenging book and follow it up with an insightful discussion. Maybe you're a recent Queens transplant looking to make new friends in the area. Maybe the sudden appea …

The purpose of this group is to provide a forum for those gay guys (aged 30 or older) who are hardcore and even mild fans of geeky interests. As somewhat of a fan of many things geeky, I want this group to provide me (and those like me) with opportunities to learn more about any and all things related to"Geek Culture" (including but not limited to comics(Marvel, DC, Independents, graphic novels, sci-fi/fantasy books and movies, animation, puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, scale model (cars, trains, and …

I would like to provide a forum through which of serious and committed writers working in literary fiction can meet and possiby form writers groups. The particular literary focus, here, is, stories or novels in which the conflict emerges from and/or bears a thematic relationship to the character of the protagonist(s). My experience with writers groups is that there are many different kinds of readers and writers, and that one's development as a writer benefits from fellow writers who share a s …
We will be reading and discussing Pulizer Prize winning novels, while enjoying a nice glass of when in a Brooklyn Wine Bar. The book for the first meet up group will be Lonesome Dove. For future meet ups we will come up with a list of options to vote on for the next Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
We are fans of all things in the horror genre. We do movie screenings, horror themed plays, tours, readings, discussion sessions, etc.
My friend Katie and I started this club to honor the intellectual and the alcoholic in all of us. On the third Wednesday of every month we will meet up at a bar and discuss that month's selection. Pretty straight forward right? At the end of each meeting we will take suggestions for the next month's book and vote on the spot. The more the merrier btw, so bring along anyone you think would enjoy it :o)

This is a group for aspiring comic creators to have an opportunity to network, collaborate, synergize and hang out with like minded individuals. If your an artist, writer or other welcome aboard. I started this meetup because comic books/graphic novels have had a resurgence in popularity recently with the movie, t.v. and video game adaptations. We are fluent speakers of Italian, wanting to keep up or improve our fluency by meeting together once a mnth to read novels aloud to each other - taking turns, of course! It is through reading wonderful contemporary novels in Italian that we become more proficient in speaking, in vocabulary, in use of idiomatic espressions, in syntax, pronunciation. It is a way to keep your Italian on the tip of your tongue, so to speak...No pun intended. And Through reading aloud to each other, we also have foo …

We toil in obscurity, trying to write the next great historical novel. Or maybe just the *next* historical novel. Few who have not tried it understand the woes of the historical writer: you do not know your world as well as a writer of contemporary stories, and yet you are not as free to invent it as a fantasy or sci-fi writer would be. Still, there is something uniquely satisfying in transporting readers to a different time, or using real events and places as a backdrop for a story that gives t …
